I’m starting this forum post in hopes to provoke thought and promote RP.

The advantage of having a community like Arklay during the zombie apocalypse is that we can have a little bit of everything and everyone’s skill sets can be used.  We are not as organized as some of the cities on The Walking Dead, which allows for some chaos, dissention and rivalry and all round mayhem, which is great for RP too.

It would be even more personally fantastic if everyone within your little group could do everything and had everything and well… you know.

But we all want to rp.  There is no point in a group of people with a common skill set like mechanics to form a group if everyone fixes their own stuff.  There is no point in having the ATC if everyone has their own perfectly functioning vehicles and endless supply of gasoline and go on their own runs and find everything they need.  There is no need to have this hospital staffed if everyone is a combat medic.  There is no need to have the Dollhouse if everyone just mast...er. I’m sure you get what I’m saying.

What I’m getting it at is that by eliminating the need for help, by making our little groups and characters so self-sufficient, all interactions with other groups on the sim are null and void and the stories cease to flow.

I’m not saying dumb down your character, but are we really all (and by all I mean “all of us people”) that skilled?  Do we really all have cars and an endless supply of food and water?  Can your character/group really solve all their problems and meet all their needs without outside help?
