Welcome to Arklay Island

Rain. It was wet before we got here, and it was wet when we arrived. Damn weather systems. Who knows what got fucked up, though, when the world started going to shit and if some one of our ‘neighbors’ decided that setting off a bomb is the best way to clean up contagion. Or maybe even age-old feuds came to a head finally.

Being here with my sister, Kitten, helps keep me sane. I was, immediately, pretty pissed when she begged me to come visit family in California. I loved my job, working out in Red Canyon, and didn’t want to leave. But what if I hadn’t? Then I’d be there, or I’d be trekking across the desert, trying to get to Cali to find her. But we’re both safe, and we’re together. Not much more I can ask for at this point.

Insofar, it hasn’t been a bad welcome. Met a friend, found some fuel, traded it for food and water. Kitten got a job shaking her ass and pouring drinks in a pub. I’m waiting to see if the local hospital will hire me. If not, she says that I might get a job as a bouncer. Would be fun to throw some drunk ass out into the street. Not that I want another infected added against us, but shit if I want people blowing off steam at each other in a respectable business.

Thank whatever God that the hospital has a shelter, at least. Tired of sleeping in the rain, even if the sun did come out. Need to be able to strip down, let everything dry out, and just rest. Full stomach, not (too) thirsty: Can’t complain too much right now.

P.S. – Who knew mole didn’t taste too bad? Better than nothing, I suppose.
