I made it – 9/23/2017

I’ve been walking for a couple days now. I’ve finally made it from the tiny shack I stumbled upon to this city, it seems like there might be some people here. There are running generators, I can see them and her the low hum as I enter. The most I studied what was around me the heavier my legs felt, Nothing and no one in site I couldn’t control myself as I leaned to a wall and slid down it slowly, pulling my knees to my chest and closing my eyes for a moment, they stung from the lack of sleep, my throat was dry and I couldn’t breath very deep or else I’d have a coughing fit.

I sat there for who knows how long before a voice pierced the silence, well, aside from the humming generator near me, I looked up to see a man, he was missing an arm and had, what I assumed was a German Shepard beside him. I miss Silver even more now, seeing this man and his dog. I shook my head as it began to spin my hand instinctively reaching behind me and grabbing the hilt of my combat knife, before I knew it a woman had appeared as well. I was scared and my mind was foggy as I stood up, ready to defend myself, but, instead I stumbled to my feet before my knees went week and I fell to my knees, the grip I had on my knife pulling it out of my pocket but also causing the heavy metal blade to clatter next to me as my whole body felt numb. I was sure this was it for me, they were going to kill me.

After a moment of my heart beating in my ears, unable to hear anything else, I noticed the two had been talking and as I snapped back to reality neither of them seemed hostile, in fact they were offering to help me. The man said in exchange for some work they would provide me with what I needed to survive and his wife would examine me, something about being a doctor. Everything was so hazy. The woman approached and offered me her hand as I took it and stood up shakily, Pride over took me as I declined any effort to help me walk. I followed them for a while, up a hill threw a gate and a couple wooden arch ways before seeing a building, the woman took me in, offered me water and examined me, obvious I wasn’t bitten or infected she gave me a bottle of water and some jerky, I ate half of it rather quickly before stuffing the rest into my small backpack.

She gave me some boots, they fit nice. a lot better than what I had been running around in for so long, she’s nice, her husband seems nice as well but she seems more incline to help, he seems a bit more cautious. Who wouldn’t be? The world we live in is a lot different now. After everything was said and down I warned that my friend might come for me, the woman explained that she would warn the watchmen and that if they came, she’d need a description. I felt awkward, almost not knowing how to describe him, but, after a bit a cocky grin came over my face as I describe a three foot tall, four and a half, five foot long, counting the tail, silver furred beast. The woman simple chuckled and said something along the lines of, ‘Well, sounds like you’ve got a wolf as a friend’. To which I simply nodded a bit and warned that I doubt anyone would see him if he’s alive and if he came for me, he’s very agile and good and getting around without being spotted, shortly after she bid farewell for now as to let me rest. I turned over, clinging to my small bag tightly.
