The Crew
By Matthias Istmal

FOUNDING MEMBERS: Cami Tiratzo/Cake, obscuretide Resident/Al

OVERVIEW: PLEASE NOTE: I am submitting this through the account who will ICly run the faction. However, you know me better as Burn Afterthought, who is hopefully be a more familiar name to you all. πŸ™‚ Burn as a character isn't suitable as a faction leader based on her characterization, and will probably not be involved in the faction, depending on in which direction her story veers. However, the IC leader will be played through this alternate account of mine, with a character specifically created for this purpose: The Crew leader Daniel Shaw (avatar Matthias Istmal). Note number two: The idea for this faction was conceived before we learned of the resurrection of the Rebels and while the two might superficially seem alike they'd have more differences than similarities. For example, the Crew have no interest in actively opposing authority or the formation of a more civilized society; the world can burn as far as they're concerned, as long as they get to warm up by the fire. We see a definite role to fill in Outbreak for a faction that is "bad". I use quotation marks because I want to be very clear that this faction is not intended to be a one-dimensional band of "bad guys". However, the Crew are very much always looking out for number one. They're not particularly interested in rebuilding civilization, providing security or helping people out that can't pull their weight. They were on the fringes of society, low-lives, when the world fell, and in the new world, post-outbreak, they're intent on carving out a nice chunk for themselves. Easy living. If they can exploit an individual or a group for their own benefit, they will. Inherently, a gang of "bad guys" can inspire to acts of gratuitous violence and general bullying, by players overzealous to embrace that role. This faction would not be for them. While acts of bullying, violence, threats, racketeering, rape and other things might (and probably will) be carried out, it all serves a purpose. Waltzing in and pushing people around for the sake of feeling like the big man (or woman, naturally) will not be permitted. IC-ly, such may of course occur, but transgressions will be dealt with internally, with the punishment harshly fitting the crime. The chain of command matters and new people will need to prove their loyalty before being trusted with more important matters. When the Crew make their move into Arkley, they are not outnumbering any existing factions on the island. Apart from the founding members, there would realistically be a small number of NPCs, enough that they feel that they have at least a little bit of weight to throw around. They will seek to control primarily the drug trade on the island, and provide both lighter and heavier drugs (both scripted and RPed) to whomever desires. They will also deal with whatever commodities (food, medicine, firearms) they gather, be it from trades for narcotics or through... other means. The weak get eaten, dog eat dog, that is the new world.

POTENTIAL ENEMY: The Crew would be a fickle ally at best, a fairweather friend who might turn if offered a better deal elsewhere. Enemies: The Phoenix Collective, AEGIS, any group that works to provide rules, order and a more structured and civilized existence. Either/or: The Dollhouse and others who provide narcotics... stance depends on their willingness to cooperate. Allies: No true allies but might have dealings with the less discriminate Rebels - or maybe more pointedly, conflict, if their goals overlap too much - as well as individuals with a more lax stance on law and order.

EXPERIENCE:We are relatively new to Outbreak but we are all experienced roleplayers with many years of roleplaying in and out of Second Life, including faction lead/admining/GMing/running RPing sims. We'd be available in several different time zones, to enable play for an international player base. We're OOCly friendly and inclusive, mature, and eager to promote new ideas and storylines on the sims. We enjoy the story and atmosphere in Outbreak a great deal and are committed to help out by providing In-character strife and shenanigans!

IDEAS:Roles within the faction can range from merchandise-runner from the mainland, chemist, muscle/security for the faction, drug dealer, hang-around, enforcer, "protection" for businesses, bait, prostitute for the less discerning customer, and whatever else interested parties might suggest to us. The faction will be actively trying to expand their numbers to 'gain turf'. In short: we'd like to stir the pot and provide a group to interact with that will definitely NOT want the best for your character! Long-term storylines, plots that involve players, whether they are new or already closely integrated with the sim. OOC inclusion and openness... paired with some juicy conflict! As far as commodities are concerned, we originally intended to request pills and joints, but with the proposal of Sour Diesel, we wouldn't want to saturate the market for weed. Rather, them having access would only provide more chances for cooperation and/or conflict. So instead we had pills (to emulate any sort of drug that the RP might suggest) and canned goods in mind, through their connections on the mainland as well as cooking their own. As a HQ, we would like to request the abandoned supermarket on Fever. It would serve as a great spot for a faction base, on the outskirts of town, outside of the perceived "jurisdiction" of whatever group might declare themselves as having such. I know this was long so thank you for making it this far! Hopefully you will be as excited about the idea as we are!

it's a crazy, dangerous world out there. It also holds beauty beyond compare... don't dream it, live it, if you dare...
