KalisaidI wasn't sure where to post this, so I posted it here., and this is NOT a post asking for more rentals! (would be nice tho!) But, we all know that actual rental space is limited, people like a place to put down a few prims and make it feel like their 'home'. With a shortage of rentals, people have banded together into little tribes and groups--which is great and perfect for our environment. But we don't all live in theses family groups. And we all don't live at The Eights. And we all don't want to live there. There are a lot of empty, livable spaces on sim, and if we think about it, it makes sense that someone would squat/rent/live there. Why spend the night on a cold rooftop when there are perfectly good indoor places that would provide shelter from the weather and zombies?
Since about a week after I arrived on sim I have rp'd that I lived in one of the rooms at the Royal Palms. I had joined the Rebel Group (which is still not completely formed) and this is supposed to be their base. It's perfect living space, it has a second (third?) story, off the ground and away from zombies. On the ground floors windows are boarded up, some rooms are empty, and realistically it makes no sense whatsoever that this building would remain empty. Whether staying in one of the few rooms that are furnished, or just claiming a room and sleeping on a bedroll, the place would be 'lived in'. This doesn't apply to just the Royal Palms, but any spaces that might seem livable. It’s my opinion that while people RP 'scavenging' around, we should keep these things in mind. Granted, we'd have no way of knowing that someone lived there, there is no sign on the door, the door is not locked, and no prims laid out to show ownership. To me, it would totally work rp’ing stealing stuff, but RP'ing that the place is completely empty and that no one lives there, and on top of that, that there could be anything left to scavenge in the building at this point in the story--well it just doesn't seem plausible to me. Is there anything that could be done to make the spaces look more lived in? Some places on sim do look completely abandoned, even while in use daily, and I can see how some would get that impression
