Dixon's Garage

OVERVIEW: When things went to shit, there were people who didn't panic, people who didn't abandon all hope. Instead they started figuring out ways to prepare for the future by salvaging the pieces of the past and making those pieces into something new. They didn't do this with profit in mind, but rather to help their fellow survivors. Things break, things need repaired, things need made. This has always been a fact of life and has not changed. While some people would use the needs of others against those same people, these people did what they did for the benefit of everyone. What will these people fix or make? Simply put, everything and anything. If anyone has the skill to do it and can get the materials to do so, it will be done. No task is too small, no task is too big. Fixer – Someone with ability to fix/build things, whether it be electrical, mechanical, construction, comms, people can specialise how they want and it would make sense that the fixers also teach each other skills. There may be room for Fixer-Lite role – for someone who is in training or picking it up than fully fledged but I wouldn’t force people to work up from that, unless they wanted a beginning point for their own characters story. Maybe call them ‘runners‘ they could assist fixers or get message out to people that work needs to be done, run messages for the scavengers and fixers. Scavenger – For the less technically minded and the braver, they can go out scavenging things that the fixers need for specific jobs in return for the food / comforts they group trade for their services. Security – Still room for the bad asses in this group, the fixers want to work in safety – these guys could ensure the base is secure and accompany scavengers/fixers on their travels too.
Things we can/will make:
1. Zombie Alarms for Businesses – at the moment they are just noisy things on wires, but we are looking to develop more sophisticated methods for giving people a heads up about impending walkers!
2. Home brew systems – the protype is still in the making but we are hoping it will be able to at least produce Moonshine on the middle of the “URGH to ARRRHHH WTF ITS BURNING MY THROAT OUT” scale.
3. DIY Pepper spray – a recipe is in the cooking.
4. Poop Catcher for horses – attaches to saddle
5. Steam / Water powered transportation (probably more of a long term project but that doesn’t mean fixers won’t be seen ploughing down hills in their cobbled together prototypes!
6. Welding stuff to other stuff – we have the kit. Perhaps your favourite metal baseball bat could be upgraded to one with neat little spikes on.
7. Repairs to pretty much anything ((no guarantees that it won’t break three seconds into its next use again though))
8. Bicycle building and repair
9. Building radio equipment ((perhaps a long term mission to build a long range radio mast))
10. Boats….we’re on an island. Boats are essential.
11. Windmills for the future farm
12. Ducttape replacement – “some plant resins as an adhesive, some fabric from say an old car seat or something, some wax from candles or bee’s wax so it won’t stick to itself too much.”
13. Weapons crafting/repairs – we specialize in the bludgeoning and bladed lines of weapons but lets see how inventive we can get. The Garage will serve the sim for day to day things as well as things tied to sim events, doing recovery and reconstruction to help the community when the shit hits the fan.

EXPERIENCE: I have been running the garage for several months now in the absence of a Lead, keeping up relations with other businesses and working on starting new ones.
