OVERVIEW: Some leading citizens, in light of recent events, have decided to try and impose some order on Arklay. What makes this different from the previous "cop" role is that it is a faction separate from the hospital, and that it will have strong leadership as well as not being on a "pay per crime" basis but will more reflect a small town sheriff's office in the real world but with the limited resources available in a town like Arklay.

The jurisdiction of the Sheriff's office will cover the main town of Arklay only. There should be a lawless, dangerous feel outside the main town and although the Sheriff and its deputies will be able to investigate crimes that go on out there, it will be a case that they have no real authority outside the barriers of Arklay.

Duties: The Duties of the council will be to compound a list of laws that will befit the new world we live in and the Arklay Community. They will consist of the leaders of the main businesses in Arklay such as the Dollhouse, Coaches,The Eights, ATC, the hospital etc.

During a dispute the Council will rule on it. All laws will be absolute and voted on with an unanimous vote by all council members. It will be the duty of the council to provide a salary for the Sheriff and Deputies.

 

Sheriff: The Duties of the Sheriff are to enforce the laws of Arklay. In times of trouble the Sheriff can call for marshal law. The sheriff will train,lead and discipline all deputies. The sheriff will when a crime calls for Martial law will act as executioner. The Sheriff will keep an office with jail cells and be responsible for prisoners therein. The Sheriff will collect fines and/or enforce punishments to law breakers. The Sheriff will provide Deputies with a salary that is provided to the sheriff by the council. The Sheriff is answerable to the council as a whole, but not to individual council members.

 

Deputies: Deputies will enforce the laws of Arklay. Deputies will answer to the Sheriff NOT the council. In the absence of the Sheriff the head deputy will take charge for no more than 2 weeks before the Council vote on a new Sheriff. Deputies will abide to the sheriffs rules and the rules of Arklay.

POTENTIAL ENEMY: Anyone breaking the "Law"

EXPERIENCE:  I have been in SL for over 6 years. I was in Crack Den for many of those. On other sims i have run groups such as The X-Men ( on a Marvel sim), The Kids group ( in Mystara) and a few others. In CD I was a cop with a reputation( Look on the old forums for my IC Journal). I make it my duty to meet everyone who comes into Outbreak and engage them in RolePlay no matter their experience. I have been an Admin and a Mentor on many sims. Also in Real life I have a lote of leadership qualities that I wont discuss here.

IDEAS:Newcomers: The sheriff or a deputy will try to meet and inspect every newcomer to Arklay as kindly as possible. (of course that is in theory not practice). Newcomers will be informed of the laws and the consequences of breaking them.

 

Events: One of the events we would like to see would be a full trial of a criminal in all its harsh, brutal apocalyptic glory. Some sort of capital punishment in the main town square.
