Arklay’s Closet
By Juniper Ellisson

TYPE: Thrift Shop/Clothing Store

SLURL: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Outbreak/111/179/30

OVERVIEW: Arklay’s Closet will be primarily like the thrift shops you found before the Outbreak, selling used/scavenged clothing for the people of Arklay. We will also provide alteration services. Two years into the apocalypse it’s bound to be difficult to find clothes that fit or that are someone’s correct size, with providing in house alterations we can help people find that perfect article of clothing and tailor it to their size. I'd also like to look into providing Laundry services for people. We can hire people to wash by hand, make lye, bring soap, etc. And for a fee we can wash your clothes for the week, month, etc. As we expand, I would like to see the store become a more traditional thrift shop, used clothing, shoes, and accessories, as well as household goods. Looking for a specific pot, utensils, kitchen and home items? We might have it for you. This is an expansion I would like to see further down the line as the business grows. I would also like to provide opportunities for scavengers and those who go on mainland runs to have someplace to bring back their goods. ATC and S-Mart are also good places to unload wares, but Arklay’s Closet would be for specific items and provide more specialized services.

EXPERIENCE:I think I could bring a different type of RP/benefit to the community. Clothes, although might seem frivolous to some, are essential to survival. Being equipped with the right clothes in certain situations could make it or break it. Moreover, it’s difficult to justify an ever changing wardrobe. Let’s face it, it’s Second Life, the majority of us love to play dress up, what better way to rock that new release than to RP going to the local thrift shop and getting some new threads. I would like to struck RP between the different factions and businesses as well. Maybe the ladies at the Dollhouse need some special negligee for an event or just to do their work, maybe some special “Uniform” is needed by a faction, or maybe newcomers to the island are looking for some clothes if they have lost everything. Arklay’s Closet could provide these services to the community and foster these relationships. If the home goods expansion occurs, I would love to see some fostering between the shelter, diner(s) and maybe even Coach’s. There’s quite a few possibilities and I’d love to see the community input on this. I have been an Admin at other roleplay sims, and I was a Community Leader/Store Lead at Crack Den before. I was also a mentor at CD. I have experience with leading roleplay groups and I always make sure to keep everyone engaged and the business active. Engagement, realism and ultimately fun are my main drives and that is what I hope to bring to Outbreak.
