buffy aurasaidIt's been a long strange road for Lara. Her whole life has been like that it seems, but these days it's gotten even weirder. Born into one of the world's most elite family's, a constant disappointment to her esteemed grandmother due to her refusal to follow tradition, Lara was flung headlong into the Outbreak when the infection spread through the Polynesian island she was yachting on like a case of the common cold, and only she and her longtime servant Quentin and bodyguard Jack managed to escape because they had a boat with an actual engine....until the fuel ran out and they drifted for weeks at sea, surviving only on the fish Lara could catch by freediving and the few bottles of water they had left, and then a ship came onto the horizon promising rescue....except they were pirates. Kept in a dank hold for days whilst their fate was being decided (the general consensus was kill the man, keep the girl at least until she was no use any more), until Lara managed to bribe a few crew members with the promise of riches if they overthrew the Captain. To taking charge when the Captain's throat was cut and finding herself guiding a rusty old barge and an untrustworthy crew from island to island, scavenging deserted towns or raiding camps of survivors, doing things she'd never imagined she'd have to do just to stay alive. By the time she sailed into Arklay there was little trace of who she used to be.... Lara had learned to be bloodthirsty and cruel, and some days she even wondered if she had any humanity left. After being raped by a Raider and then the child dying inside of her due to the H1NZ virus, that last spark seemed to go from her, and she descended into madness until her crew mutinied, shot her, and the last they saw was her body falling into the ocean with one of the crew swimming off with the body. Except now she's back.....and no one knows what her agenda may be. Oh and if the rest of the infection has taken out her family....she just might be someone very important.
