What is Outbreak?

Outbreak is the upcoming third iteration of the ongoing paraRP sim set during the backdrop of an infectious outbreak that turns those infected into the walking undead. We are bringing things back to Day 30. Electricity still somewhat works, signal is intermittent. The world has not gone completely dark yet. Outbreak takes place in modern day USA, set right off the northernmost coast of California. The world of Outbreak takes place in the same universe and timeline that our previous sims have taken place in. Time goes day by day.

Zombies?

The infected in Outbreak are the tried and true classics – rotting undead shamblers. No sprinters, no special infected, and no climbing of vertical walls. Closest interpretation would be the Max Brooks interpretation from his novel series. The contagion itself is a blood-borne virus transmitted through direct fluid contact. It is not Walking Dead style where everyone everywhere is inexplicably infected.

Factions?

We will launch with 3 core sim run factions that players will be able to join. More details of them can be found in their respective locations on the forums but a quick rundown is as follows… Romero County Emergency Services A rag-tag collection of police, firefighter and EMT’s banding together to keep a semblance of order and security. They handle policing and emergency needs of the city including running the station and the hospital. Demios Group Arklay Outpost A research lab constructed by the megacorp to do some of their most sensitive testing, now one of the last remaining hopes of finding a cure. The scientific staff is protected by a detachment of the corporate security detail. The Rebels Yet to be officially names, not much is known about this quiet group – but what is known is their grave dislike for the overreach of the scientists and their mercenary protection. Whether or not this group will stay in the shadows or become much more visible and violent is yet to be seen. Players are allowed and encouraged to form their own groups on the sim. All that is asked is that a group application be sent to staff for evaluation before the group is allowed to be RP’d on the sim.

Weapons

Weapons and ammunition in Outbreak are controlled through an advanced HUD system scripted into a backend database, this means it will be able to achieve what we set out to do in Contagion 2: Whispering Oaks but do it much more cleaner, neater, and effectively. Players will be able to find and acquire guns through roleplay, scavenging, or trade and the same will be done for ammo. As the weapons themselves are tied to the HUD -only- the weapons given out to be used for Outbreak will be allowed on the sim for use. Though players can rest assure these will be high quality mesh RP props. ((Work in progress, more will be added as time progresses.))
