Frank Vasquez, Francis Marian Vasquez, was no ordinary priest, maybe that was why he and Sister Theresa survived the onslaught in the kill zone around San Francisco.  Father Frank was a principal and priest for Our Lady of Angels church and school and over saw the Carmalite nuns at the school, most of whom ere cloistered.  When the epidemic broke out across the world and all over California, Father Frank thought he could rally the "troops."  You see Father Frank, had once been a married man and father, an E6, with the  720th Military Police Battalion out of Fort Hood, Texas, and been over seas in Iraq working from Baghdad to Tikrite in the Sunni Triangle. When the outbreak took place he was sure that with faith and a can-do attitude he would be able to hold on.  Tend the sick, rally the community to serve the poor, hang on, just hang on, the government would be coming. He organized people into squads, they armed themselves but millions in the metropolitan area of San Francisco dying and changing made clear there was holding your ground.  They fled the city: parishioners, sisters, students, but no one, no matter how good a leader could have them.  It was only by God's will that he and Sister Theresa lived.  A devout Catholic since he was a boy he worked hard during junior college on becoming a Catholic deacon with the obligation that if his wife died he would become a priest  He never thought to see that day, she was young and healthy and they had a daughter, but a car wreck changed his life. He was about to get out of the army and was given an early dismissal with a hardship case. He returned to a new life finishing up college while attending seminary. He had found solace in serving the people and the young people of the school, but now that it was all gone...?  Well, many might abandon their faith, but Frank felt sure that God had given new op orders.  The mission: gather people, serve people, feed people, and keep the peace, and hang on, hold out, and fight to stay alive ever single day.  Stay alive until God calls you home.  With the good little Sister Theresa the angelic and practical visionary at his side he will work to be true to his faith while realizing everything is changing and nothing can remain the same but what was it becoming?

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned...

And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born
