As of today, the only way to acquire weapons (handguns) are through an admin, who hand them out from time-to-time via scenes, through trade between players, and optionally when joining as part of the Fighter trait. I had an ammunition vendor setup in the General Store, but relocated it upon request up to the Deimos Research building lobby.

With the launch of the Income feature in businesses, players can potentially earn over 1k a week… plenty of money to begin purchasing ammo and weapons now.

Upcoming Releases

  • PVP combat through the HUD is being modified – after careful observation in its current state, it’s too easy to assume that you can fight and win through a number of clicks. To help reinforce the emphasis on text-based RP, I’m redesigning the feature to look and function like a dice/supplemental system to help determine who would likely win based on their stats, health, and weapon status. The system will not automatically deplete health or enable looting. I think we have a number of features throughout the sim that impact health/economy in a way to stimulate RP.
  • We have started an open discussion with Leaders and admins as to where we should distribute weapons (handguns, shotguns, and rifles). I think it’ll make sense to have certain guns circulated by RP only, while others can be accessible to vendors. Same thing with ammo… we just need to come up with a strategy that scales while simultaneously addressing the need to minimize “gamers” from just clicking things to acquire. One of the ideas I am floating is only allowing weapons to be purchased through a vendor in bulk, maybe even only allowing RP leaders to do as such, then RP’ing out the sale and distribution.
  • Adrian has put together a few more weapons (shotguns and rifles) and will sync up on the final set so we can have them setup in the database and released.

The above are already works in progress and should be rolled quickly. Feel free to comment or provide feedback for consideration.
