OVERVIEW: There had been a previous suggestion for a bakery in outbreak.. and it was amazing! Though it seems that although it had been approved, nothing ever came of it for reasons unknown to me. I personally really like the idea so I am resubmitting the previous idea in hopes to actually make something of it. Much of the ideas expressed below were their original ideas as I did not want to change it too much, but I did try to reword a lot of it. "What is one thing currently lacking in Arklay?... CARBS, precious baked carbs! Have you ever been hunting and managed to get a decent amount of meat from you kill.. only to realize there is no hope of bread for that sandwich you were craving? Or a lovely diner roll to go with that stew you made? Sure, there is corn, but have you ever tried making a sandwich or a roll out of corn cobs? But what can be made from that corn is CORNBREAD and other BREADS! This is where Mad Batters comes in! We play to gather needed supplies through rp in order to make breads, muffins, rolls and other feasible baked goods which can then be used to make sandwiches and snacks and the like. Of course there will be nothing terribly fancy since supplies are obviously limited ICly, but with some practice and dedication the staff can learn to be a little more creative the the supplies available. Here you can bring in your kills (deer, chicken, whatever) and we can fry/bake it right up for you and create a delicious sandwich to hopefully satisfy your cravings! Got some scrap meats? If we have the ingredients, we can make it into a stew with dumplings or a roll on the side, or cornbread! There of course will be condiments offered as well depending on availability. Roleplay with other businesses will be a must. For example, the eights could be a primary source of corn in order to create the cornmeal that will be needed. Those that grow things out in the fringes as well could bring their goods in to be bought, thus helping the bakery keep an inventory of ingredients. Of course there would need to be talks about what grains are available ICly, and types of deals that could be worked out regarding trading/buying of goods. Hopefully there will even be wheat growers out in the fringe on the farmlands or private residences that are sure to be out there that are willing to work with us. This would open a few other opportunities! Of course the grinding and preparation of the corn and potential other grains would be all done by the staff, and instructions and recipes would be provided for the workers. Many potential RP situations and odd jobs for other supplies needed: MILK & EGGS - obtained through RP situations and could be obtained from the goats and chickens that roam about in the hunting locations or from residents on the Fringe who may have access to farm stock, or evaporated milk scavenged for around or sought from the mainland (this could look different if either milk and/or eggs become a usable hud-commodity.) SUGAR, SALT, BAKING POWDER, SPICES, CONDIMENTS, ETC. - scavenged for around or sought from the mainland. Whatever Mad Batters can create will be dictated by what we have at our disposal, creating diverse RP. Useful services paid for by Mad Batters owner/management through mutual agreement and depending upon the extent of trouble went to to obtain the items. Those seeking employment would contact me as the owner for an interview. Duties would include food prep, cooking, cleaning, clearing tables, chatting up costumers, and directing side jobs, questions and concerns to me as the owner. One unique thing the diner location has is a fridge/freezer combo. I'd like to see potential to install a generator and/or propane to make the kitchen functional (whether actually or RPly). Otherwise we couldn't really bake, cook, or keep fresh supplies. By having power there would be RP created for installation and repair services with Dixon's and to tap into player skills. Having the fridge/freezer would also allow us to have.. ICE! Not only would we have cold beverages and food storage for dairy and meat, but how long has it been since anyone actually had ice? Useful not only for cold drinks but for RP situations such as injuries. How many times has someone gotten knocked around and needed to bring down swelling? Potential for individual, business, and medical RP situations. Many players are avid hunters and Mad Batters would be a place they could potentially come and sell their cleaned kills or scrap meats. Another hot hud-commodity would be sodas. We would purchase/sell these to and from players, as well as another place to purchase the ever needed water. And come to think of it...IF we have dairy, we could potentially churn butter and make cheese.

EXPERIENCE: I see the bakery as a great idea for a wide variety of roleplay. We would rp interacting with other people in town and in the fringe to gather information on recipes as well as obtain ingredients both hud and rp wise. Staff and people in town could arrange to work jobs to locate certain supplies that are needed, by either going out and scavenging, hunting, or interacting with other business. Maybe even trips to the mainland! This could help people grow their characters, even if in small ways, as well as help other businesses. The two owners were going to culinary school so do have a little bit of experience in the matter, though there is plenty of room to grow.
