Nathan is tall, dark-haired, blue eyes and of average build. He is sarcastic and protective but it sometimes leads him in making the wrong choice by thinking too quickly for a solution. He doesn't trust easily but tries to help those that he believes are good people. Being an only child and living on his own for most of his life made Nathan very independent and stubborn. Just two years before the apocalypse started Nathan's girlfriend, Heather, moved in with him and they lived a typical life. One evening, Nathan was watching the news and a reporter was talking about a number of very ill patients at the towns general hospital. Nathan wasn't too interested in it as he figured it was just another every day type flu. But, one morning Nathan woke up to the sound commotion outside on the street. He sprung from his bed drawing back the curtain and saw a woman being attacked. The woman screamed loudly while what looked like, a really sick person, took a chunk right out of her neck. Nathan ran from the window and down the stairs to his front door. He opened the door quickly running out into the street towards the woman who was now laying on the ground with half her neck missing while the zombie continued to eat her. The zombie turned it's head gazing at Nathan and Nathan's eyes widened in fear. He saw the decomposing corpse with blood spilling out of his mouth heading towards him. Nathan ran back inside the house to grab Heather and make their escape.
