One day the woods go silent, completely… which in Arklay’s long history has never been a good thing. The animals seem to of disappeared, all except for one, rats.

Rats from the mainland would come flooding over the bridge, appearing to be fleeing from something (-insert ominous music-)… And thanks to the lack of medicine and general hygiene, the rats turned out not to be so hygienic either.

 

Before long the furry little creatures would start getting into the old sewage system, with no running water and active sewage this would make it easy for them to get around unnoticed, able to easily enter households and businesses, potentially spreading around a disease they had managed to pick up from the mainland… Hantavirus.

Let us be clear; rats will be everywhere! Not just hundreds but in their thousands.  On rooftops, on walls, in houses, businesses and even on the ferris wheel.   They'll be in the smallest of spaces and the biggest of rooms.  You won't even be able to walk without stepping on a rat.

 

How will the townsfolk stop this infestation, and what have they been fleeing?
