Hi all! I wanted to take a moment and provide you with some exciting updates that are ongoing in Outbreak ... Senior Staff Announcement First, I wanted to take a moment and thank Kaliope Karas for her time spent as admin in Outbreak over the past two years! She made the difficult decision to step down due to a busy RL and she felt the community deserved more commitment than she was able to provide, especially with the growth we’ve had the past few months. I’m personally grateful for always being there and holding down the fort, and more importantly, being so patient with me! Running a community is no easy task and I wish her all the best. Effective immediately, I have promoted Syn Wytchwood (Dale) and Geoffrey Welders (Ben) to join KayKay Stine (Kay) as admins. Ben had served as a GM in the Crack Den years ago. He’s been a staple in Outbreak’s RP for a while now and I’m excited he’s stepped up to support staff and the community. Dale also came with a number of recommendations across the board; she’s been intimately involved in story building and she’s been someone really great to work with. Just as a reminder to everyone, I believe that staff should support the community – not police it. Creativity in the form of connecting players and building stories is the reason we’re all here! I’ve spoken to both Ben and Dale directly over voice and they believe in the same thing, too! We’re recruiting!! I’ve charged our admins to beef up staff. We are looking for mentors and moderators so if you consider yourself active, understand RP etiquette well, and enjoy helping people … we need you!! See any admin in-world to learn more. PVP Combat Bug Fixes Kali and Paul had done some thorough testing for me on the PVP issue. I just wanted to let you know that the bug was identified and corrected as of several weeks ago. Players will now get reliable results. Remember, the combat tool is a way for players to determine the outcome of a fight fairly that takes into account your character’s skills, experience, and chance. Commodity Expansion Every group proposed (ie. official business, private business, and factions) and approved are assigned a commodity type to traffic. I am expanding on this ability by releasing new crates of goods, per commodity type, so that faction members, business leaders (leads and managers on roster), as well as private business owners purchase and trade in RP. The items found in that crate are likely to be more potent in terms of effecting your skills, experience, and health; they also will not be found by simply scavenging or more traditional means. Scavenging Ammo If you’re lucky enough to find ammo while scavenging, the system has been updated to provide a random discovery of bullets that go straight to your backpack rather than your SL inventory. San Mora @ Fantasy Faire Fantasy Faire will be opening up this week and as some of you may know, we have a special story in place to work with the San Mora sim that DRD is building. While the sim is setup for shopping, there are scheduled events to take place and we will also have a presence there to promote Outbreak. The faire is setup to fundraise for an amazing cause. Relay for Life! Build Updates I am working on replacing a few builds and updating them to reflect the time passed! Stay tune for those.
