Once upon a time, a farm girl had a burning desire to help people. Though many looked at her slim 5'2" inch frame, heard her soft Kentucky drawl, and dismissed her, she ignored them and forged ahead. Feisty and determined with a "can do" attitude, she worked hard, won scholarships, and finally after years of hard work earned a medical degree, setting her on the path to fulfill that dream. Then the world as she knew it ended...
Working in the ER in the city during the outbreak, she barely managed to escape the ensuing chaos when the number of infected grew too large for them to maintain and the hospital was overrun.
Barely making it home to the family farm, she arrived to find her mother sick and her father desperately trying to nurse her back to health. Lacking any medication and with the local area in pandemonium, both her parents died when the infection spread to her father as well.
Her sister in Atlanta had called home right before the power grids and cell towers died and at the time had been getting sick so Tami could only assume her dead. Though it broke her heart to do it, she found the strength to give her parents mercy, then she gathered camping gear and what supplies she could and headed west, looking for safer place to settle.
Now, after months on the road, seeing the worst of humanity and forever changed after barely surviving the horrors now common in the world, she hopes she's found that place.
