Day thirty-four on Arklay Island, supplies are running low and a herd of the dead are in town. Infrastructure and systems remain in working condition, though their long term outlook is bleak. Without sustainable resources, it will be weeks perhaps even days before the town fails. The new mass of dead, which now walk the streets, are not helping matters either.
The last few days have seen combat on the same level as the early hours of the initial outbreak. Though many are wounded, fortunately few if any have become infected. The survivors are a stalwart bunch and are very aware as to the risks involved when dealing with the dead. They are armed, usually with self-manufactured weapons, and clad in leather. Despite their preparedness, most sustain injuries from glancing blows and missteps over the tumultuous terrain.
The condition of town is no better than what it once was. The streets are still cluttered, buildings are dilapidated and continue to crumble. Despite the amount of resources gathered and used, there’s been very little effort to make repairs. There is one exception however, for survivors dwelling within the Eights Motel are taking the initiative to keep their sanctuary secure. It is an admirable effort and they surely are a shining example to us all.
As for the Deimos facility, it still remains in fair shape. Efforts continue to maintain it, but there has been very little progress toward setting up rooms. Dr. Turner and I explore the labyrinth below, almost daily, in search for supplies meant for the lab. What we find however is a mishmash of tools and equipment designated for purposes other than our workspace. It seems as if those who first brought in supplies did not label the boxes and placed everything wherever this is space. It is already a daunting effort to organize everything, but it is one that must be done.
Without an operational lab, Dr. Turner and I look into improving the quality of life on Arklay Island. The water treatment facility is currently the most attractive prospect of a project. Broad propositions are already drawn out for its reclamation and repairs, but there are some details in need of development. Primarily, we must beseech Epsilon to purge the dead which walk the grounds. It is a simple task in comparison to the greater deed of repairs, but we must still proceed with caution. As the matter of security is the responsibility of Epsilon, it will be up to them to form an a plan of attack.
