Day 29 – 32 Scraps and Bruises
The ride in the patrol car didn’t last very long, especially when bodies are willing to throw themselves against it. The patrol car was tough, real tough. Eventually, white smoke started to rise from the engine. Russel did his best to avoid them, but sometimes there were just too many on the road. Russel armed himself with the shotgun in the car and gave me his 9mm handgun. I didn’t know how to use it, but luckily the shotgun didn’t leave much behind as we easily escaped after the car died.
Over the next few days, I patched up any scraps and bruises on Russel, and he taught me how to use and shoot the guns. I found some clothes and other useful things to replace my dirty scrubs as we ducked in and out of neighborhoods out of sight. We had to keep moving no matter what. I just know I will find my sister alive.
