Dear April 14, 2017,

Left home today and headed for the city. I feel bad for leaving without saying anything, but I knew they would never let me leave. I left a note telling them not to worry but I knew they would…they always worry. I just don’t get why they don’t trust the settlers! I mean I’ve been here for about three hours and things seem way better than it did in the wilderness. I feel safe, protected. Like I don’t have to sleep with one eye open because someone is keeping watch over me. I stay alert but I know I don’t have much to worry about.
