Looking at the laptop screen and trying to word my diary correctly left me staring at a blank screen. “What to write?” I thought. Then I was inspired, and I let my fingers fly across the screen.
The first thing I did was make a note of my first patient and their medical condition. Making sure to leave out they person’s name, I set about doing a routine exam and drawing bloods. Wow. I had been a while since I drew any. But then I was usually in the back of an ambulance when I was doing it. Not a moving on of course. Gads, I would have wrecked a patient’s arm if it was. The patient seemed to be exhausted. But then that can be deceiving.
When the labs came back I found out they had cholera. Not good at all. They were in the early stages and hadn’t gotten worse yet. It can debilitate a person from severe dehydration, due to vomiting and diarrhea. In this case, they were admitted and treated for the symptoms.
At the moment, the person is sleeping and feeling better. They will have a quiet night at least. As for the report? I have it completed and sent to the head of Staff for review.
For now that is all I can think to put into my journal.
