There is a Bible quote that says, “God does not have favorites.”
It’s not true for mortals.
Some mortals even lack a moral compass, something that guides them to do right even when everything around them tries to convince them to do otherwise.
A leader has a moral core, a method for dispensing decisions that originate from that moral core, and the discipline to follow that core time after time.
Sometimes, a leader fails.
When a leader fails, there are two choices.
Stay, or move on.
For me, when leaders fail in a post apocalyptic world, one must move on, lest you become dust, ground under by the decaying feet of the walking dead.
A long time ago, a president was awarded a Profiles In Courage award.
Personal courage is one of the seven core Army values.
Those who are rotten to the core, will always lack courage to do right.
A river drifts, and it will take a Motherfucker to travel it.
You’re right, God, you don’t have favorites.
Mortals do.
