I want to understand how the HUD works...
The Outbreak Player HUD was designed from scratch by Nadir to offer more RP opportunities and interesting perks for new and regular players. Coupled with the various features on the sim like Scavenging, Weapons, Healing, and Income, the HUD pulls it all together. If you have bugs or feedback to report, please do so on the forums! In the meantime, our volunteer staff have put together an unofficial user guide to provide some insight into how the HUD operates.
How can I heal my character?
How can I heal my character?
- Visit the hospital and RP with the staff there. You may be awarded a medpack or will heal automatically while spending time in the recovery ward.
- Purchase a medpack in the hospital lobby with the cash in your backpack
- Spend time inside a local business – patrons and employees will heal while RP’ing inside the building.
How can I earn cash?
- The fastest way to earn cash in town is to earn your keep! Work a job at a local business with a For Hire sign or rent a business of your own. The time spend inside the building RP’ing with patrons will allow you to accrue income for that week. The next week, you can cash out using the register in the building for the money you earned during the last week.
- While healthy (yellow or green vitality), fight the infected that surprise you. You will often be awarded loot for the injury you risk in dispatching them.
- Scavenge the dumpsters, trash bins, and piles scattered about town! You’ll find items of various values.

How do I rent a shop space in the role-play area? All in-character businesses must first be proposed, reviewed, and accepted before an available property can be rented out to you. Due to limited availability, we reserve these spaces for players who will contribute their leadership and time towards building more role-play opportunities for the community.
How do I rent a vehicle or horse permit? Due to limited resources on sim, we offer paid rentals for riding and keeping out a vehicle or horse. Visit the Transportation Guide for more information.

You can submit your idea using this online form and then follow up with one of our Story Weavers! We also recommend you begin by posting your idea in the role-play subforum to gauge interest and brainstorm collaboratively on a story that will work.
